Government to continue prioritizing education, Head of Public Service

A spirit of celebration, gratitude and renewed determination defined the thanksgiving ceremony held at Cherobon Mixed Day Senior School, where students, teachers, parents, education stakeholders and leaders gathered to celebrate last year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results.

The event was graced by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei and attended by Tinderet Member of Parliament, Julius Melly, alongside local administrators, education officials and members of the community. The occasion provided an opportunity for the school community to reflect on its performance in the national examinations and appreciate the efforts that contributed to the positive results.

Candidates who sat for last year’s KCSE examinations were recognized and celebrated for their achievements, with several leavers receiving prizes and gifts in honour of their hard work and commitment. School leaders noted that the recognition was aimed at inspiring current students to emulate the preceding candidates’ determination and strive for academic excellence.

Koskei reaffirmed the government’s commitment to investing heavily in the education sector, noting that education remains a cornerstone in the country’s development agenda. He said sustained investment in schools is key to producing a skilled and competent workforce capable of running various sectors of the economy.

He further emphasized that education should not only prepare learners for employment but also mould them into job creators who can drive innovation and economic growth. Koskei added that the government will continue to support institutions through improved infrastructure, learning resources and teacher empowerment to ensure quality education for all.

Koskei also challenged students to maintain discipline and remain focused in their studies, urging them to take advantage of the opportunities provided through education to shape their future.

Tinderet MP Melly, underscored the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders in the education sector. He noted that the success of learners depends on a collective effort involving teachers, education officials, parents and the wider community.

Melly called on parents to play an active role in guiding their children, saying that support at home is crucial in reinforcing what is taught in school. He also urged teachers to continue mentoring learners with dedication, describing them as central to nurturing responsible and productive citizens.

The MP highlighted ongoing initiatives to improve education infrastructure within in the Sub County through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund, noting that such efforts are geared towards providing a conducive learning environment.

Cherobon school management and teachers expressed appreciation for the support received from both the national government and local leadership, noting that the KCSE results reflected the collective effort of all stakeholders. They expressed optimism that the school will continue to improve its performance in future examinations.

Parents and community members welcomed the recognition of the candidates and the commitment shown by leaders, expressing confidence that continued cooperation will further uplift the institution.

The thanksgiving ceremony featured prayers, speeches and presentations by students, creating an atmosphere of reflection and celebration. It not only marked the school’s performance in last year’s KCSE examinations but also served as a renewed call for unity and collaboration in advancing education standards.
