The tournament, sponsored by the area Women Representative Cynthia Muge, is to feature 12 boys’ and 12 girls’ teams drawn from across the county, each seeking to make a mark in what has been billed as a key platform for nurturing volleyball talent at the grassroots level.
In the boys’ category, Pool A comprises Cheptonon, Chepkumia and Kapcherori, while Pool B features Kimondi, Kipkoror and Singileti. Pool C includes Kapchumba, Samitui and Lessos Kenya, with Pool D bringing together Kapkeben, Mombwo and Kiboswa.
The girls’ competition mirrors the intensity, with Pool A made up of Ngenyilel, Kamelil and Kapsabet CBD. Pool B has Kaptuno Queens, Lessos Stima and Kapkoimet, while Pool C features Kipkoror, Kabiyet Queens and Kapsoen. Pool D consists of Kaimosi ATC, Kipngeru Queens and Kapkeben.
Matches got underway this morning, with teams battling through the pool stages in a bid to secure slots in the knockout rounds. Organizers say the format ensures fair competition, with top teams from each pool progressing to the semifinals ahead of the final clashes.
The tournament will reach its climax tomorrow, with the finals expected to draw a large crowd of fans and stakeholders. The closing ceremony will be graced by the Cabinet Secretary for Mining and Blue Economy Hassan Joho, who is set to preside over the awarding of trophies and medals to the winning teams.
Local sports officials have hailed the competition as an important initiative in promoting volleyball among young players while strengthening unity and healthy rivalry among participating institutions.
As the action unfolds, attention now turns to the courts at Kapsabet, where teams are determined to fight their way to the finals and claim top honors in this year’s BOSO Super Cup.
