President Ruto unveils Laikipia projects

President William Ruto has unveiled major developments projects for Laikipia County, reaffirming his Administration’s commitment to equitable and all-inclusive growth for everypart of the country.

Speaking during a development tour in Doldol , Laikipia North Sub-county, the Head of State said the government was deliberately focusing on regions that have historically been left behind, by ensuring no community was marginalised in the country’s development agenda.

“ I pledge that no region will be left behind on development as it had been the case previously, every region in the country is important,” said Dr. Ruto.

Among the flagship President Ruto announced is the allocation of Sh4 billion for the construction of the long awaited 60 kilometre Nanyuki–Doldol road which he said could kicked off in two weeks.

“I am here to promise you that , this road that has affected you for years , Nanyuki- Doldol road , we have allocated Sh4 billion to construct this road .I have directed the contractor to start in the next two weeks,” Said the Head of State.

The project forms part of a larger 217-kilometre road network upgrade across Laikipia County, with the contractor expected at the sites.

“This is not the only road project we are implementing, we are constructing six others, which have been budgeted for, and we have said that 217 kilometers of tarmac road is being constructed here in Laikipia,” he said.

The President said Sh. 60 million was allocated for the construction of five new schools in Laikipia North, to improve the learning environment in local schools, particularly those in remote areas.

He also handed over a bus to Kurum Day Secondary School, to improve student mobility in the vast pastoral area.

President Ruto further disclosed that the government is investing Sh15 billion in the Affordable Housing Programme in the Doldol.

This initiative will see the development of modern markets across the country, to support small-scale traders and stimulate local economies.

During the visit, the President laid the Foundation Stone for the Doldol Huduma Centre in area .

The Centre will house an ICT hub and bring over 168 government services closer to residents, in line with the government’s broader push to decentralise public services and enhance efficiency.

Ruto told residents of Doldol that his Administration’s development philosophy centres on spreading resources fairly, with deliberate focus on rural and previously underserved areas.

He described the projects as practical steps toward transforming lives and creating opportunities at the grassroots level.

The President, during the tour, was accompanied by Deputy President, Kithure Kindiki and several senior government officials. The visit highlighted ongoing efforts in roads, education, housing, and service delivery in the county.

Other areas the Head of State toured included Olmoran, Kirima and Nyahururu, all in Laikipia County.
