NCA warns public to be wary of impostors as five face prosecution

The National Construction Authority (NCA) has issued a strong public warning against the increasing trend of individuals impersonating its officials, citing an ongoing case involving five suspects at the Kiambu Law Courts.

The suspects, George Njoroge NjinguPeter Njoroge NjugunaLucas KunguConsolata Wairimu Kirikaand Mary Wanjiku Waime, have been charged with impersonation.

Particulars of the charge sheet state that, on 16th October 2025 at Kiambu Township Sub-County, the five individuals jointly and with intent to defraud falsely presented themselves as NCA officials.

Police records show the suspects were arrested, placed in custody, and later released on bond. The case, initially mentioned on May 20, 2026, is now set for a full hearing on June 9, 2026, where the NCA is pushing for severe deterrence action.

The NCA described the incident as part of a worrying trend where fraudsters exploit the public’s need for construction approvals, site inspections, and compliance certificates.

“NCA officials always carry official identification and operate through verified channels. Members of the public should never engage anyone claiming to be from NCA without proper verification,” revealed a police officer attached to NCA.

The regulator urged Kenyans to cross-check identities by calling official NCA offices or using authorized digital platforms before making any payments or sharing documents. Such impersonation cases not only lead to financial losses but also compromise construction standards and public safety.

This case serves as a timely example amid Kenya’s ongoing infrastructure push.

The public is encouraged to report suspicious characters to the nearest police station or NCA county offices immediately. As the June 9 hearing nears, authorities hope a strong sentence will deter would-be imposters.
