SRC takes first place in Financial Reporting (FiRe) awards

The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) received top honours at the Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards, having been awarded the leading performer among Constitutional Commissions and Independent Offices, for exemplary financial accountability and resource management.

A statement to the newsroom indicates that SRC secured the win under the ‘International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) Accrual’ Category at the FiRe Award event held at the Safari Park Hotel.

This win marks several consecutive years of recognition for SRC during FiRe Awards, reinforcing SRC’s commitment to prudent financial and resource management.

The FiRe Award is East Africa’s most prestigious financial reporting award, promoting accountability, transparency and integrity in compliance with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and other disclosures related to governance, social, and environmental reporting across both public and private sectors.

The annual event is jointly promoted by several key bodies, including the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya, the Public Sector Accounting Standard Board of Kenya, the Capital Markets Authority, Nairobi Stock Exchange, and the Retirement Benefits Authority.

This year’s FiRe Awards, themed, ‘Fostering Compliance to International Standards to Enhance Transparency, Comparability and Accountability’, saw over 1,507 entries, a 37 per cent increase from the previous year’s 1,100 entries.
