Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi on Saturday presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a Sh9 million dormitory at Kaimosi Comprehensive Special School in Vihiga County.
The proposed dormitory, with a bed capacity of 166 students, is expected to improve accommodation facilities for learners at the institution.
Mudavadi was accompanied by Principal Secretary for Public Service & Human Capital Professor Jane Kere Imbunya, Vihiga Woman Representative Beatrice Adagala, Hamisi Member of Parliament Charles Gimose, Vihiga Member of Parliament Ernest Kagesi and other leaders.
Speaking during the ceremony, Mudavadi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting learners with special needs, saying they deserved equal opportunities and access to essential services.
“You must be supported just like other Kenyans,” Mudavadi said, assuring the learners that the government cared for everyone.
The students, led by vocational training student Dennis Biegon, expressed gratitude to PS Imbunya and the government for supporting the institution through the provision of food, bedding and other essential needs.
In a further gesture of support, Mudavadi donated Sh150,000 towards food supplies and an additional Sh50,000 for the purchase of a television for the school.
The project is expected to enhance the learning environment and improve the welfare of students as the institution continues to provide education and vocational training to learners with special needs.
