Construction of the Ondiri Rumwe–Skyline Junction Loop has entered a key phase, with road base laying and compaction works now underway in preparation for tarmacking, signaling steady progress in efforts to improve transport infrastructure within Kikuyu Constituency.
The ongoing works are expected to provide a durable foundation for the asphalt surface, enhancing the quality and lifespan of the road while improving connectivity for residents, businesses and motorists who rely on the route daily.
Residents have welcomed the latest milestone, expressing optimism that the upgraded road will significantly reduce travel time, lower vehicle maintenance costs and improve accessibility, particularly during the rainy season when sections of the road have previously become difficult to navigate.
Speaking on the progress of the project, Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wa said the commencement of road base laying demonstrates the government’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure that directly benefits local communities.
“The Ondiri Rumwe–Skyline Junction Loop is steadily taking shape as we move closer to the tarmacking stage. We are committed to ensuring that residents have access to reliable road networks that improve movement, support businesses and open up more economic opportunities,” said Ichung’wa.
He noted that investing in modern road infrastructure remains critical in facilitating trade, enhancing access to schools and health facilities and attracting further development into the area.
The Legislator added that the road will complement other ongoing infrastructure projects across Kikuyu Constituency, creating a more integrated transport network capable of supporting the region’s growing population and expanding urban settlements.
Contractors have intensified works on site, with heavy machinery carrying out compaction to ensure the road meets the required engineering standards before the asphalt layer is applied.
Once completed, the upgraded road is expected to improve traffic flow, strengthen links between surrounding neighborhoods and contribute to safer transportation for motorists, pedestrians and public service vehicles.
The project reflects the continued investment in infrastructure development aimed at transforming road connectivity and supporting socio-economic growth across Kikuyu Constituency.
