Joshua Omore has been installed as the new chief for Wawidhi location, Nyando sub county.
In his inaugural speech, Omore pledge to lead with integrity, while promoting peace and development.
The coronation ceremony held at Apondo Primary School, was presided over by Kisumu County Commissioner Benson Leparmorijo, who emphasized the importance of ethical leadership.
“As a leader, you must always act with honesty, uphold strong moral principles, and build trust within the community,” Leparmorijo advised, noting that, “Fostering a culture of ethical behavior is essential to effective governance.”
Chief Omore committed to steering the Location towards unity, teamwork and growth. “I hope that unity, integration, collaboration and team work shall make us achieve our dreams,” he assured.
“As your leader, I remain deeply committed to promoting peace, fostering development, and ensuring that every voice in our community is heard. Leadership is not about power, it is about service,” he said, reaffirming his pledge to lead with integrity and fairness.
On the other hand, the newly installed chief called on development partners, stakeholders, and residents to collaborate with his office in driving community transformation.
He recounted his journey as an Assistant Chief of Magina Sub-location for 10 years before his promotion to head the location, noting that the tenure exposed him to social, economic and political life experience.
“The challenges encountered made me resilient and I can work effectively under pressure,” Omore stated.
The colorful ceremony was also graced by Nyando Deputy County Commissioner, Elijah Maranga, national government administrative officers, security officials, departmental heads, clergy, elected leaders and members of the public.
