Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo, hosted a delegation from the Global TeleHealth Network (GTN) led by its President, Dr. Jack Higgins, to strengthen collaboration on improving healthcare delivery in the County.
The visit follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the County Government of Vihiga and GTN in August 2025.
The partnership seeks to accelerate access to quality healthcare for residents, by leveraging GTN’s vast telemedicine resources.
Through the agreement, GTN will provide access to a network of about 300 highly qualified doctors from Canada and the United States, who will offer remote consultations, second opinions, and medical expertise across a wide range of specialties.
Governor Ottichilo said the collaboration will help bridge critical gaps in healthcare service delivery, reduce patient referral costs, and ensure faster diagnosis and treatment, especially for residents in remote and underserved areas.
He added that the initiative marks a major milestone in Vihiga’s journey towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC), and improving overall health outcomes for county residents.
