Embu Huduma Centre staff forego lunch to support the needy

By S, KNA

‎Huduma Centre Embu staff marked this year’s Customer Service Week by foregoing lunch money for one-week in a bid to support needy children.

‎ Consequently, the 70 staff members used the money to buy and donate assorted goods including foodstuffs, sanitary materials, confectionaries to children with various forms of deformities at ACK St. Monica Embu Special School.

‎ The staff also planted trees in the compound as part of greening initiative, as they spent quality time with the children as part of giving back to the society and reaching out to the community that they serve on a daily basis.

‎ “We came here to share our love, compassion and emotional support with these less privileged members of our society,” said the Huduma Center Manager Ruth Wacera.

‎ She said as a center, their aim was to extend their services beyond the usual customer interactions by engaging in charitable activities and community support that coincided with this year’s theme, “Mission Possible.”

‎ The special school head teacher Stephen King’ori expressed his gratitude for the gesture, saying it had lifted the spirits of the vulnerable children.

‎ He called on other well-wishers to come on board to assist them rebuild the destroyed dormitory.
