Meru County Commissioner Jacob Ouma has issued a stern warning to men fond of defiling girls saying they would be dealt with severely.
Addressing residents at Mikinduri primary School, Ouma pointed out that Meru has been ranked among the leading regions with high rates of teenage pregnancies.
“Many girls are dropping out of school due to teenage pregnancy. We are concerned that our young girls are being lured by older men to engage in sexual activities at a very tender age,” he lamented.
The administrator singled out Tigania-Igembe region as the worst hit by the vice and encouraged parents to instill discipline to their children while still young.
On education, Ouma cautioned parents, especially during this long school holiday to accord their children the best care to prevent them from being abused or involve themselves in social vices.
