One candidate will sit for the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) in Makueni Referral hospital after falling sick over the weekend area County Director of Education (CDE) Lydia Mutegi has confirmed.
While saying another student who was admitted after he was assaulted was discharged on Sunday, Mutegi said that arrangements have been made for the student to do his examination at the hospital as he recovers.
“The student who is admitted in hospital is from Makueni Subcounty and is alleged to be suffering from epilepsy while the one who was assaulted was from Mbooni subcounty,” she said.
“We are all set for the examination. The containers have opened well, the learners are ready, and even the one in hospital will be taken care of. We have made arrangements to ensure he sits for his exams comfortably,” Ms Mutegi said during the official launch of the national distribution in the county at the County Commissioner’s office on Monday.
Speaking from the same event, Makueni County Commissioner Duncan Darusi assured the members of the public that examination materials were distributed across all 10 sub-counties in the county.
“We have put all security measures in place. The process is safe, and no way will we compromise the integrity of the examination during this unique national assessment,” said Darusi.
He said that these examinations will play a key role in nurturing the talents and potential of young learners under the new curriculum.
The county security and education teams assured parents, teachers, and learners that all logistics are in place to ensure a smooth, fair, and credible examination exercise across the region.
A total of 81,716 candidates across Makueni County are sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA), and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) this year.
