Kenya Premier League side Bandari FC have sacked its Head Coach Mohamed Borji following the coastal team’s poor performance.
The dismissal of the Moroccan national Borji, former player of Morocco National Team, comes two days after the dissolution of Bandari Football Club Board of Trustees.
In a statement released,Thursday, the Team Acting Chief Executive Officer, Tony Kibwana, announced the dismissal of Borji and his Assistant, Tarik Mendamou, who were appointed in March this year.
Borji took charge of only eight games during his stint and managed one win, five draws and two losses.
His sacking comes hours before Bandari faces Gor Mahia (Friday), in a crucial SportPesa League match, at the Mbaraki Sports grounds in Mombasa.
“Bandari FC announces that the Club has parted ways with Head Coach, Mohamed Borji and his Assistant, Tarik Mendamou, takes charge immediately. This decision follows review of the team’s technical direction, as the Club focuses on re-strategizing its performance,” said Kibwana.
While appointing goalkeeper trainer, Razak Siwa, as interim Coach, Kibwana thanked Borji and Tarik for their contribution during their time at the Club.
Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), the main sponsor of Bandari FC, on Tuesday dissolved the entire Board of Trustees which was constituted in March this year, and chaired by Stephen Toya.
This was announced by KPA Managing Director, Capt. William Ruto, through an Internal Memo that was addressed to all General Managers and Divisional Managers and copied to the President of Football Kenya Federation (FKF), Hussein Mohamed and KPA Manager of Security Services.
“Acknowledging the competitive nature of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League and keen to re-strategize the Club’s performance, Management, hereby, dissolves the 2025 Board of Trustees as currently constituted,” said Capt. Ruto in his Memo.
Bandari is currently lying at position 14, with twelve points after playing ten matches in the 18 teams premier league, just four points more from the bottom team Kariobangi Sharks.
