Four people have been arrested in Hamisi sub county during an operation to wipe out illicit brew in the region.
The raid was conducted across Hamisi sub county during the Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) by a government multi-agency security team led by the area Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), Ruth Lorete.
In an interview with KNA, Lorete confirmed that during the raid, they managed to nab 50 litres of Chang’aa, and 1,000 litres of kangara in Gisambai and Kipchegwen areas.
Lorete issued a stern warning to residents engaging in brewing, selling and consuming illicit brew that they will all be arrested. She also warned those that hang along roads to spy on the police, in order to inform the illicit brew traders to escape, that they will also be arrested because they were making police work difficult.
She confirmed that the ongoing government crackdown on illicit brew and drugs will be a continuous exercise to ensure development of the region.
