Police in Makueni Subcounty have launched investigations to establish the main cause of a fire that gutted down a dormitory at Kyamuthei Boys School on Tuesday.
Speaking to Kenya News Agency on Wednesday, Makueni Subcounty Police Commander Winnie Siele said the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) at the Subcounty was handling the issue.
“The DCI has launched investigations to unearth the cause of the fire that destroyed property of unknown Value on Tuesday at 2pm belonging to 62 students,” said Siele while speaking to KNA on Wednesday.
When contacted for comment, the Makueni Subcounty Director of Education (SCDE) Richard Ng’ang’a said no student was injured during the incident.
While saying nothing was salvaged from the inferno, Ng’ang’a disclosed that no student was injured as they were they were in class.
However, he observed that the school’s Board of Management was meeting today (Wednesday) to decide whether students will continue learning.
“The roof carved in during the unfortunate incident and property belonging to learners was destroyed.
However, no student was injured as they were in class,” said Ng’ang’a in his Wote Office on Wednesday.
