Teso North Member of Parliament Oku Kaunya has asked Sirisia MP John Waluke to withdraw and retract remarks he made in Parliament claiming that Changara Division belongs to Sirisia Constituency in Bungoma County.
Kaunya further demanded that Waluke apologizes to the community and substantiate allegations he made against Principal Administrative Secretary in the Office of the President, Arthur Osiya, whom he described as corrupt.
The Teso North legislator said such claims must be supported with evidence.
He urged residents to ignore Waluke’s sentiments, terming the remarks as reckless, misleading and made out of ignorance.
According to Kaunya, the statements were false and issued without proper knowledge or research on the matter.
Speaking at Aterait in Changara, Kaunya emphasized that administrative boundaries are clearly anchored in law and should be respected.
He cautioned leaders against making statements that could create confusion and tension among residents.
“We do not want anyone to destabilize the peace we have enjoyed as a community through reckless statements that may spark tension and conflict,” he said.
Kaunya also called on Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to issue an official statement clarifying the administrative boundaries of Changara Division in order to set the record straight.
He urged members of the community to remain peaceful and continue coexisting harmoniously with their neighbors.
