Grading and murraming works begin on Karambaini Road

Grading, compaction, and murraming works have commenced on Karambaini Road in Ndumberi Ward, Kiambu County, in a move aimed at improving connectivity and accessibility for residents, motorists, and businesses.

The road works, which stretch from Indian Bazaar through Karambaini, are expected to provide a safer and more convenient transport route for motorists, pedestrians, and traders who rely on the road for their daily activities.

Speaking during an inspection of the ongoing works, Kiambu Town Member of Parliament Machua Waithaka said the project was part of continued efforts to improve road infrastructure and address transport challenges facing residents.

“We have commenced grading, compaction, and murraming of Karambaini Road, all the way from Indian Bazaar, as part of our continued commitment to improving road infrastructure and enhancing accessibility for our residents,” said Waithaka.

The legislator said upgrading the road would strengthen connectivity within the area while easing the movement of people and goods.

He noted that improved road infrastructure would support local businesses by reducing transport challenges and improving access to markets, schools, health facilities, and other essential services.

“The project will improve mobility, strengthen connectivity, and make transportation safer and more convenient for motorists, pedestrians, and businesses that rely on this road every day,” he said.

Waithaka assured residents that development projects targeting basic infrastructure would continue, saying accessible and reliable roads were essential to improving livelihoods and stimulating local economic activities.

“We remain steadfast in delivering practical development projects that improve the quality of life for our people,” he said.

The ongoing works are also expected to improve the road’s condition during periods of heavy rainfall, when some sections become difficult to navigate.

The road upgrade is expected to reduce challenges experienced by residents and traders while improving the movement of farm produce and other goods to local markets.

Residents and road users are expected to benefit from improved accessibility and safer movement once the works are completed.
