Kiharu Member of Parliament and People’s Party of Kenya (PPK) leader Ndindi Nyoro has vowed to work with the united opposition, saying he will support the coalition’s preferred candidate in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking in Mukuyu town, Murang’a County, during a meet-the-people tour, Nyoro said that beyond plans to challenge the current administration in 2027, the opposition must also focus on how to serve the country and address ongoing economic and systemic challenges.
Nyoro confirmed that as PPK leader, he will work with other opposition leaders toward the shared goal of providing better leadership for Kenyans.
“You will not hear me insulting or disrespecting anybody in the united opposition. We will consult and bring our ideas together for a common goal.” He said.
The party leader further pledged to work with Rigathi Gachagua, Justin Muturi, Fred Matiang’i, Kalonzo Musyoka, Edwin Sifuna, among other opposition principals as he called for continued unity in the bid to address the challenges facing the country.
“If the opposition says I will be the flag bearer, I will accept. If they front another candidate, we will also support and we will work together.” He said, adding that all leaders should be free to popularise their parties across the country without intimidation.
He said that beyond forming the next government, key priorities for the opposition include making education affordable, strengthening healthcare, supporting manufacturing and improving tourism, among others.
Nyoro also underscored the need for transparency in government systems and the fight against corruption, as well as the protection of national minerals and resources to safeguard Kenya’s sovereignty.
Meanwhile, he dismissed local leaders who have congratulated him since the launch of his party, saying PPK will not be an escape route for leaders who have disrespected others.
“We will not be entertaining politics marred by insults and disrespect for Kenyans and other leaders.” He said.
“Those leaders who have been insulting others will have to mend those relationships and apologise because they are not welcome in PPK.” He added.
The MP said that together with other opposition leaders, he will be traversing the country to campaign under the united opposition framework.
Nyoro has undergone a notable political shift, moving from being one of President William Ruto’s most visible allies to charting an independent path within the opposition.
During the 2022 General Election, he was a key mobiliser in the Mt. Kenya region and a prominent figure within the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
His exit from UDA marked a turning point as he aligned himself with the opposition through the People’s Party of Kenya (PPK), positioning himself within a broader coalition seeking to challenge the current administration ahead of the 2027 polls.
