Bank donates food worth Sh15million to the starving

The Cooperatives Bank of Kenya Garissa branch has donated food stuff worth Sh15 million to drought-stricken families in Garissa County.

Launching the programme Garissa cooperatives Bank Manager Mr. Wario Wako said the food items will be distributed to all sub-counties in Garissa.

He appealed to the communities living in the area to give priority to the needy and poor households who were affected by the ravaging drought that has decimated the livestock population and threatened the normal livelihood of some 289,000 households in the North Eastern Region which the National Disaster Management Authority has categorized as having reached the ‘alarm’ stage.

Mr. Wario appealed to the National Government administration officers at the grass root to support the bank’s teams who will flag off the convoy of lorries transporting food items to the needy and venerable members of society.
