Busia County FKF league kicks off this weekend

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Busia County league campaign commences
this weekend with a total of nine matches scheduled for Saturday and
Sunday.

Eighteen teams divided into two zones will battle it out for top
honours in the inaugural 2020/2021 county league campaign.

Zone A will feature eight teams – Musokoto FC, St Anthony
Okatekok, Kamolo ,  Amagoro, Boca Junior, Malaba Giants, Kakurikit
and Kekalet.

Zone B will have Dragon FC, Young Rovers, Ajax FC, Mungatsi, Green
Canopy, Mabale United, Busia YC, Masters , Teens of Hope and Butula
Eagles.

Today, Musokoto FC from Nambale Sub County and Kamolo FC from
Teso North will open Zone A campaign with a match at Musokoto Primary
School. The other match will see St Anthony Okatekok battle it out
with FC Amagoro from Teso North.

Zone A Sunday fixtures will see Boca Junior take on Malaba Giants at
Malaba Stadium while Kakurikit FC will play with Kekalet  at Kakurikit
Primary school.

In Zone B, Dragons will clash with Young Rovers at Nyakwaka Primary
School; Ajax FC will meet Mungatsi at Okame Primary School with Green
Canopy facing Mabale United in a local derby at Mundika Primary
School.

FKF Busia branch chairman, Hillary Musundi told the press ahead of
today’s kick off that the federation has put in place elaborate
measures to ensure participating teams maintain peace and observe the
Ministry of Health Covid-19 protocols.

Musundi said last weekend’s meeting between the federation and the club
officials outlined all issues pertaining to the league and the need to
uphold discipline.

He said the federation has set a road map with short and long term
strategies aimed at of revamping soccer in the county especially in
schools which are the bedrock of soccer talents.

He also disclosed that the federation will endeavor to look for
sponsors for clubs noting that the sports bill which is being drafted
will take care of gaps in the various sports disciplines.

Clubs participating in the County League will enjoy Odi Bets
sponsorship with each team getting two sets of uniform, six balls and
training kits.
