Education in Hamisi Constituency has received a major boost after the Safaricom Foundation awarded Cheptech Secondary School a Sh59 million boost to upgrade infrastructure and learning materials aimed at raising the quality of education and expanding opportunities for learners.
Speaking during the announcement, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Hamisi Constituency, Charles Gimose, said leadership is about going the extra mile to ensure that citizens receive quality services and equal opportunities for development.
The MP thanked the school board, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders for their dedication and support towards improving education standards in the Constituency, noting that teamwork and commitment had played a key role in securing the project.
Under the project, Cheptech Secondary School will benefit from the construction and equipping of nine classrooms for Grade 10 to Grade 12 learners, a 40-seater ICT laboratory, twin science laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Biology, an administration block with capacity for 18 teachers, a kitchen, and 12-door pit latrines for both boys and girls.
The Project will also include the supply of 50,000 litres of water and landscaping aimed at improving the school environment, boosting enrollment, and enhancing academic performance.
The MP noted that the development will position Cheptech Secondary School among the leading institutions in Hamisi Constituency and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring every child has access to quality education.
Residents and stakeholders have been invited to participate in the public participation meeting at the school to give their views and support towards the successful implementation of the project.
The initiative is expected to significantly improve learning conditions and create a better future for students in the constituency.
“Together, we shall make Hamisi Constituency better. ‘Hamisi ni kazi tu,” the MP said.
