Electric Poles Delay Completion of Roads in Kisii

Kisii County Commissioner Alan Machari led the County Development Implementation Coordination Committee (CDICC) to inspect national government road projects in Kisii County where electric poles have delayed completion of some roads.

Speaking at Nyanchwa in the outskirts of Kisii town during the inspection of Gusii Stadium-Itierio road, Machari advised Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), Kenya Power, and Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU) to dialogue on the relocation of electric poles from the middle of some roads.

Kisii County PDU Director Mr Duncan Wanjiru urged Kenya Urban Road Authority (KURA) to erect bumps at the Gusii Stadium – Itierio and Nyanchwa – State Lodge roads intersection to slow down traffic and prevent accidents.

On his part, Kisii County Executive Committee member for Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Walter Okibo urged the national government to upgrade Gusii Stadium – Itierio road because currently it was a major diversion.

The CDICC also noted that some roads that were launched many years ago were halfway done.

The County Commissioner was also accompanied by directors from KeNHA, KeRRA, and KURA.
