Construction of the Gikumari Police Station in Gatong’ora Ward, Ruiru Constituency, has reached approximately 80 per cent completion, with the project expected to enhance security and improve access to policing services for residents.
The facility is being constructed through the Ruiru National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) as part of efforts to strengthen security infrastructure and bring police services closer to residents.
Ruiru Member of Parliament Simon Ng’ang’a said the project was progressing well and would play a critical role in addressing the security needs of Gikumari and neighboring areas once completed.
He said the establishment of the police station would reduce the distance residents have to travel to access policing services while strengthening the capacity of security agencies to respond to incidents within the rapidly growing constituency.
“The construction is now approximately 80 per cent complete, and we are committed to ensuring that the facility is completed and operational to serve the people of Gikumari and surrounding areas,” said Ng’ang’a.
The project is expected to provide a permanent policing facility equipped to support law enforcement operations, improve response to security incidents, and promote a safer environment for residents and businesses.
Gatong’ora Ward has experienced significant population growth and development, increasing the demand for essential public services, including security.
The police station is therefore expected to complement existing security structures and improve coordination between the police and local communities.
Residents will also benefit from easier access to services such as reporting of criminal incidents, obtaining police assistance, and other services offered at police stations.
The project forms part of broader development initiatives undertaken through the Ruiru NG-CDF to improve public infrastructure and service delivery within the constituency.
Upon completion, the Gikumari Police Station is expected to provide a more accessible and conducive working environment for police officers while enhancing the overall security of the area.
