Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo has commended the National Government for pumping substantial funds into infrastructure development to ease the movement of people and goods.
Ottichilo however decried poor workmanship by contractors working on the roads network in the county. He said that in cases where the road is not poorly done, then it would be behind the scheduled time due to slowed works.
Ottichilo was presenting his remarks to the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) western regional team led by the director Eng. Sulati Korbolo when they paid him a courtesy call
He cited Standkisa-Yala road which is dotted with potholes, the Majengo-Gisamba-Serem stretch that is behind the scheduled time.
“There is also a need for completing the drainage works along Kisumu-Kakamega Highway at Gambogi, Mbale and Chavakali markets,” he said.
Eng. Korbolo promised to closely monitor the contractors so that they execute the work in accordance with the specifications in the bill of quantities.
