Khwisero MP Christopher Aseka has appealed to residents of Kisa East Ward to maintain peace as they head to the ballot on November 27 for the upcoming MCA by-election.
The by-election was occasioned by the tragic death of area MCA Stephen Maloba, who was stabbed during a political rally in March 2023.
The incident shocked the local community and left the ward without representation in the Kakamega County Assembly.
Speaking in Khwisero, Aseka urged locals to give all aspirants a fair chance to present their manifestos and to shun violence during campaigns.
“Let us listen to the candidates, evaluate their agendas and make informed choices at the ballot. Above all, let us safeguard the peace and unity of our ward,” he said.
The legislator noted that Kisa East has made strides in development and stressed the importance of electing a leader committed to continuity and service delivery.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has already cleared several candidates to vie for the seat, with campaigns expected to intensify in the coming weeks.
Security agencies have also assured residents of adequate measures to ensure a peaceful election.
