Kisii delegation in Vihiga to benchmark on geo-spatial technology

The County government of Vihiga has become an attractive destination for visitors interested in matters of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS).

Kisii County is the latest to come calling, becoming the 29th devolved unit to visit Vihiga on a GIS benchmarking mission.

Led by the Kisii County Governor Simba Arati, the visiting team was taken through the use of GIS in collecting, analyzing and interpreting data for aiding in planning and decision making processes.

The host Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo said the two-tier government has to embrace technology in order to grow the economy, with a view to uplifting the living standards of the people.

Arati pledged to set up the system in his county so as to realize efficient management and ensure equitable allocation of public resources.

He commended Vihiga County for pioneering the project that is being replicated across the country.
