The Director of Information Joseph Kipkoech has called on the Kenya News Agency (KNA) officers to strive so as to meet the directorate’s targets.
Mr Kipkoech reminded the KNA reporters that each of them should ensure that they meet or better still surpass their set goals including the number of the news items, features, photographs, audios and video clips that were earmarked to each of them in respective financial year towards the realization of the departmental objective of disseminating development-focused information to the publics.
Speaking while on the field visit of the western region at the Vihiga county office, the Director urged the officers to take note of the fast changing media landscape where the social media is awash with unreliable information and bridge the gap by providing authentic and well-researched news pieces.
He added that they intend to establish an office in each of the 290 constituencies in a bid to optimize the information gathering services across the country.
The Deputy Director of Information (DDI) administration Hillary Obwocha, urged the officers to embrace team spirit for the common good, since there is a collective responsibility of ensuring the department executes its mandate efficiently and effectively.
He called for patience as the directorate undertakes steps towards implementing a new staff establishment that would pave the way for upward mobility for the officers.
