Lodwar stormwater drainage project takes shape

Preparations for the implementation of the Lodwar Storm Water Drainage Project are underway, marking a significant step toward addressing flooding challenges within Lodwar Municipality.

Pre-implementation activities, including technical engineering designs, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), and the development of a Resettlement Action Plan (RAP), are currently in progress.

These activities commenced following the introduction of Avatech Consult Limited to the project site by Lodwar Municipality management and technical officers on 15th July 2026.

Speaking during the site introduction, Municipality Manager, Peter Emuria, urged the consultant to adhere to the required quality standards and timelines outlined in the consultancy’s terms of reference.

Project Engineer Augustus Keya highlighted the scope of the assignment and emphasized the importance of close collaboration between the consultancy team and municipal staff to ensure successful project delivery.

Upon completion, the storm water drainage project is expected to significantly reduce the risk of flash floods, protecting households, businesses, infrastructure and livelihoods across Lodwar Municipality.

Others present included Deputy Municipality Manager, Simon Nang’iro, Environment Officer John Kirwa, Accountant James Ekaran, Supply Chain Management Officer Gideon Kipyego, and technical personnel from Avatech Consult Limited.
