Residents of Bygum Village in Sirikwa Ward, Kuresoi Constituency, have been left in disbelief following a tragic domestic incident that has left a couple dead even as the residents call for speedy investigation into the matter.
The bodies of Richard Simotwo, 60, and his wife, Junita Simotwo, 51, were discovered at their home on the morning of Thursday, February 12, 2026. Preliminary information suggests the incident followed ongoing domestic disagreements within the family.
The shocking discovery sent waves of grief and disbelief across the village, with neighbors describing the couple as long-time residents. Many residents expressed difficulty in understanding how the situation escalated to such devastating consequences.
The incident comes just a week after another similar domestic-related death was reported in Karirikania Village in Nyota, also within Kuresoi. The two tragedies occurring within a short span of time have heightened anxiety among residents, who are now voicing concern over what they perceive as a rise in family-related conflicts in the area.
Community members say this is the first incident of its kind in Bygum Village. They are calling for stronger community support systems, counseling services, and conflict resolution initiatives to help families address disputes before they escalate.
Local leaders have urged residents to seek peaceful solutions in solving domestic disagreements and to reach out for guidance and support from elders, religious leaders, or professional counselors when facing personal or family challenges.
