Marginalized families receive Ramadhan food aid

More than 170 families from Mandera County have benefited from food distribution worth more than Sh.800, 000, meant for Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.

The food donation came from Palmers Green Mosque located in London and United Kingdom, through the Mandera Islamic Center (MIC) for distribution to the marginalized and vulnerable families in Mandera East Sub County.

Mandera East Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) Nick Mbita thanked the well-wishers for the kind gesture towards needy families.

He added the government has also undertaken various donations to the Mandera community to enable residents mark Eid-Ul-Fitr.

He urged other well-wishers to chip in and extend the same to other deserving cases.

Mandera Islamic Center (MIC) Manager, Ibrahim Hassan said the donations will help the families in celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr.

He added each family will receive assorted food items as part of the donation.

Mandera is one of the poor counties and is under the government relief food program, with 57% of the county’s population in dire need of assistance.

Muslims across the world will celebrate the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday, the Festival of Fast-breaking, which effectively marks the end of Ramadhan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.
