A middle aged man was lynched by irate members of the public who accused him of being behind a spate of cattle thefts at Kanyajer “C” village in West Alego location, Siaya.
Julius Ouma, 42 years, met his waterloo Tuesday at the hands of his village mates who accused him of running a cartel that has been stealing their cattle.
Confirming the incident, local chief, Camlus Otieno Agara said the villagers accosted the suspect whom they accused of working in cahoots with criminals to impoverish them.
He said that incidents of stock theft have increased tremendously in the area, with the criminals using trucks to transport stolen livestock.
The chief said the body of the suspect was removed to Siaya county referral hospital mortuary for post mortem.
However, Agara called on residents to stop taking the law in their hands and instead be arresting and handing over suspected criminals to the law enforcement agents.
