Kenya Kwanza-allied elected leaders from Mt. Kenya region have intensified their campaign for the re-election of President William Ruto, citing development projects as evidence of the administration’s achievements.
The leaders, who were speaking during a development tour at Doldol Secondary School in Laikipia North, rallied residents to support President Ruto’s bid for a second term.
Key speakers during the campaign included Laikipia North Member of Parliament (MP) Sarah Korere and Dagoretti South MP, John Kiarie, alongside Laikipia Woman Representative Jane Kagiri and Wildlife Principal Secretary, Silvia Museiya.
Korere said that the Kenya Kwanza administration had brought renewed attention and development to pastoral communities that they claimed had been neglected by previous governments.
‘’We already have a contractor on site, as Laikipia North, we have been neglected for decades but now we have a reason to be happy. As the President strives to uplift us, there will be a lot of criticism but we will triumph,” said the legislator.
In Laikipia, she pointed to infrastructure projects and appointments to key government positions as some of the gains made under President Ruto’s administration.
They cited the Nanyuki-Doldol road project, whose construction commenced this month, as one of the major infrastructure initiatives expected to improve connectivity and boost economic activities in the region.
The leaders also credited the administration with addressing debts inherited from previous governments and improving healthcare services across the country.
“I will say without fear that this country has not seen fast paced development as it had with President Ruto. When we got the government, we inherited a lot of debts and Kenya was almost being auctioned, we were in debt default, as we speak, all the debts have been cleared up to 2032,” said John Kiare, MP for Dagoretti South.
They argued that the projects demonstrated President Ruto’s commitment to transforming previously underserved areas and urged residents to reciprocate by supporting his re-election bid in the next General Election.
Meanwhile, during the tour, the leaders commissioned the Renovated dining hall and ablution block in the school which were pledged by the Head of State when he visited the area recently.
