Nyandarua farmers to receive subsidized fertilizer

Nyandarua Governor Dr, Moses Badilisha has promised farmers that they will soon start receiving subsidized fertilizers from their respective sub counties closer to their homes unlike before where they used to travel long distances for farm inputs.

He urged farmers to prepare their lands in readiness for the planting season saying that the new distribution structure will be highly improved and devolved in partnership with local cooperative societies.

“Access to fertilizer will be open, transparent and will be based on factual data of genuine farmers and that they will guard against any unscrupulous characters who may want to compromise the structures they have put in place,” said Badilisha.

He also urged farmers to take advantage of the ongoing rains to harvest water that will be of use in the near future.

“Water conservation, at the basic household level helps improve access to clean drinking water, while at the same time assisting in subsistence farming which is a critical step in meeting both nutritional and food security in the society,” said Badilisha.

Governor Badilisha also assured local residents of his administration’s resolve to rehabilitate Lake Ol bolossat and called on neighboring communities to take ownership of the ecosystem by becoming its first line defenders and conservators.

The County Head was speaking to Catholic faithful drawn from the Diocese of Nyahururu for their twentieth anniversary celebrations at Tabor Hill spiritual center in Gatimu ward, Oljororok sub-county. The mass was celebrated by diocesan Bishop Joseph Mbatia.
