Police in Busia are investigating an incident where a prison officer is alleged to have had carnal knowledge with a Covid 19 remandee who is in an isolation facility.
Speaking to the press on Friday evening, Busia County Police Commander John Nyoike said that the station received the report on Thursday night that the officer entered the patient’s room and engaged in a sexual affair with one female remandee.
“The 33year-old woman is facing murder charges pending plea taking on July 28, 2020,” he said.
Nyoike added that the officer is also under quarantine within the same facility pending investigations.
He added that if the allegations are proved the officer will be arrested and charged with sexual offences relating to a person in authority as per the sexual offences Act 2006.
The County police boss urged police officers to uphold integrity adding that they are public officers who are not supposed to engage in such acts.
The incident is reported to have occurred at around 10.00 pm on Thursday.
