Bomet county government has announced an allocation of Sh50 million meant to cushion vulnerable families amid economic challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Area Governor Dr. Hillary Barchok speaking in his office Friday said there was a risk of starvation and lack of access to essential services by some needy households after many breadwinners were rendered jobless following several directives issued by the government to prevent the potential spread of the viral pandemic.
He said almost everyone was affected by the current medical crisis, but that there were 10,000 households that were most vulnerable and have been targeted in the funding.
The Governor said it was prudent to accept the new normal as the country grapples with the harsh realities of COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Barchok urged residents to take personal responsibility by observing directives given by the Ministry of Health in combating the pandemic.
