The renovation of the main road leading to the West Pokot County headquarters has elicited excitement among residents who use the road to access government services.
According to residents, the Bendera-Kapenguria road had been worn-out despite it serving as the entry point to the county headquarters where almost all government offices are stationed hence earning the county a poor face.
Eliud Ruto told KNA that the move by the government to repair the road is laudable since the numerous potholes had posed a great danger to the road users among them drivers and pedestrians.
“This stretch had really tainted the image of the county headquarters where all government services are sought from. This is a bright move since this is the busiest road within the county headquarters,” stated Ruto.
He asked the government to also consider constructing footpaths along the road for improved safety among pedestrians who walk to and from the government offices.
The renovation and expansion of the road will greatly help smooth transportation in the town owing to the increased traffic where boda boda is the popular mode of transport to the headquarters.
