Mount Kenya University has adopted an Integrated Resource, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technology system on its academic and administrative systems to improve on quality and efficiency in operations.
To students, the integrated Resource Planning –UniRP will ease admissions and real-time exam results, among others, thereby ensuring that they will no longer be waiting for weeks for examination results or stand in queues for registration.
They will be able to register for courses with a single tap on their phones and enjoy a smart academic digital experience.
To the staff, they will no longer have to use paper work in teaching, thus use modules for course management, research collaboration and curriculum design.
The University Founder and Chairman Board of Directors, Prof Simon Gicharu, said the monumental leap forward in digital evolution will help improve the quality of education and administration.
“This new system will boost students’, staff and management’s experience. The University Management will be able to access real-time data on enrollment trends or financial health to make informed strategic decisions,” said Prof Gicharu.
He added that the technology will enable the institution to digitize operations in Human Resources, finance, student services, library systems, procurement and alumni engagement.
This, he said, will offer a cutting-edge advantage to the institution amidst all the fast-changing digital advancement. “This roadmap is our blueprint for operational excellence and global competitiveness,” added the chairman.

The VC said universities that fail to adapt to technology risk becoming obsolete, while those that harness data and technology will shape the future.
“Our ICT Hub and ICT researcher are now activated in partnership with global innovators to drive cutting-edge research and innovation. This is the future of education to make it accessible, intelligent, and student-centered,” he added.
