Koskei urges youth to get IDs, register as voters

The Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, has called on residents of Uasin Gishu County, to register as voters and actively participate in elections, saying leadership directly influences development.

Speaking on Saturday, during a Thanksgiving ceremony at Kapkoiga Girls Secondary School in Kesses Sub-County, Koskei called on Kenyans, especially the youth, to acquire national identity cards and register as voters ahead of the next General Election, so they can take part in shaping the country’s leadership.

Koskei said citizens who fail to participate in elections, should not complain about poor leadership, noting that voting remains a key democratic tool for determining the country’s development path.

“Those who do not have Identity Cards, as well as those who have not registered as voters, should do so because these are important tools for making electoral choices to spur development,” said Koskei.

He urged residents to elect selfless and development-oriented leaders, who prioritize the interests of Kenyans and are committed to steering the country towards progress.

The Head of Public Service further encouraged residents to work hard in their daily economic activities, to improve their livelihoods and contribute to the country’s economic growth.

“As President William Ruto continues implementing development projects such as roads, water, electrification and schools, I urge you to focus on improving your homes, investing in economic activities and educating your children, so that we can uplift ourselves financially,” he said.

Koskei also emphasized the need to establish more schools in the region to improve access to education and nurture future generations that are development-oriented and capable of transforming society.

Also present during the ceremony were the Principal Secretary for Basic Education, Prof. Julius Bitok, Uasin Gishu County Commissioner, Dr. Eddyson Nyale, Senator for Uasin Gishu County, Jackson Mandago, Kesses Legislator, CPA Julius Ruto, Soy MP,r David Kiplagat, MP for Eldama Ravine, Musa Sirma among other leaders and government officials.
