Trans Nzoia Deputy County Commissioner Ibrahim Adan has warned against the grabbing of public land, saying those found culpable will be arrested and prosecuted.
Speaking at Machewa Primary School in Saboti Sub County during Madaraka Day Celebrations, Adan urged the public to avoid being deceived by politicians that they will assist them in getting land, particularly in Saboti forest.
“No politician should lie to you. That is public land, and you should keep off. This is the official position of the government,” he stated, ordering individuals who may have invaded Saboti Forest to move out with speed before they are forced to.
Meanwhile, he challenged the county leadership and other elected leaders from the region to help redefine the relationship with the National Government for the benefit of the public.
“I would want to urge Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya, who was once a national government administration officer, to help build trust and a good working relationship with the national government. I am kindly calling for cooperation between your office and our office for the sake of the people of Saboti and Trans Nzoia at large,” he rallied.
The DCC hailed the national government for implementing Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda projects in the housing, agriculture, and health sectors, which he said have boosted the economic status of the country.
This, he explained, had also helped the government to fulfill the commitment of ensuring services are taken closer to the people.
In his speech, Governor Natembeya asked law enforcers to adhere to the Constitution while dealing with crime, saying guaranteeing human rights was paramount.
