The National Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening security coordination, enhancing public service delivery, and accelerating development programmes in Wajir County following the formal assumption of office by the new County Commissioner, Mr. Ronald O. Enyakasi.
Speaking during the official handover ceremony in Wajir on Wednesday, Enyakasi said his administration will prioritize close collaboration with security agencies, county leadership, religious leaders, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of government services and sustained peace in the county.
He noted that effective coordination among all actors remains central to the success of government programmes, adding that his office will focus on strengthening inter-agency collaboration to improve efficiency and responsiveness in service delivery.

“To ensure effective implementation of government programmes, we must work together as one team. My office will strengthen coordination with all stakeholders because security and development are interlinked and cannot be achieved in isolation,” he said.
Enyakasi emphasized that his leadership will be anchored on inclusivity, consultation, and partnership, noting that peace and stability remain key prerequisites for development and economic growth in the county.
“The people of Wajir deserve effective services and lasting peace. We will therefore engage all stakeholders to ensure that government programmes are implemented in a coordinated and efficient manner for the benefit of wananchi,” he added.
The incoming County Commissioner further assured residents that his administration will remain committed to strengthening security structures, particularly through enhanced cooperation between national government agencies and community leadership structures.
Outgoing County Commissioner Karuku Ngumo thanked residents of Wajir, security agencies, and government departments for their support during his tenure, noting that strong collaboration had contributed to improved security coordination and successful implementation of government programmes in the county.
He said joint efforts between government institutions and local communities had played a key role in maintaining stability and enabling smooth execution of state functions.
“I sincerely thank all stakeholders for the cooperation and support extended to my office. The achievements we recorded were made possible through teamwork, mutual trust, and strong coordination among all actors,” he said.
Ngumo was commended by stakeholders for his leadership in strengthening security coordination and supporting key national government initiatives in the county.
He was particularly recognized for overseeing preparations for the successful hosting of this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations in Wajir, which were presided over by President William Ruto.
His tenure was also associated with the development of key infrastructure projects, including the Ahmed Khalif Stadium, which hosted the national celebrations.
Speaking during the ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of I-Fly Air and I-Mall Group of Companies Abdi A. Hassan commended the County Security Committee for ensuring a secure environment during major national events held in the county.
He said effective coordination between security agencies, government institutions, and local stakeholders had enabled Wajir to successfully host high-profile national functions, enhancing the county’s visibility at the national level.
“The successful hosting of national events in Wajir is a clear demonstration of what can be achieved through strong collaboration between government agencies and the community. We commend all actors for their commitment to peace and security,” he said.
The CEO further praised the people of Wajir for their hospitality and peaceful coexistence, noting that this has continued to support government operations and national events in the county.
