Khwisero MP Christopher Aseka has reaffirmed his commitment to empowering residents and particularly boda boda riders economically through resident centric initiatives.
Speaking during a consultative meeting with boda boda riders drawn from Eshibinga, Khumusalaba, Khushiku and Mushiangubu markets Monday, the MP said the engagement was part of his ongoing efforts to interact directly with residents and understand the challenges affecting various groups within the constituency.
Aseka noted that the bodaboda sector plays a vital role in the local economy by providing employment opportunities to hundreds of youth while facilitating the movement of people and goods across the constituency.
The MP said his leadership remains focused on creating opportunities that will enable riders to improve their incomes and contribute meaningfully to economic development.
He added that regular consultations with stakeholders help in identifying practical solutions to issues affecting the sector.
Aseka also emphasized the importance of security for riders, noting that a safe working environment was essential for the growth and sustainability of the industry.
He pledged to continue working closely with relevant agencies and community leaders to address security concerns raised by the operators.
The MP encouraged riders to embrace unity and be responsible road users saying doing so would enhance public confidence in the sector and open up more opportunities for growth.
The riders welcomed the engagement, describing it as a positive step towards strengthening collaboration between leaders and the bodaboda community.
They also expressed optimism that the continued consultations would help address their concerns and improve their livelihoods.
