Governor Barasa commissions model ECDE centre Kakamega

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has officially commissioned the St Angela Model Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) Centre at Bulimbo Comprehensive School in Matungu Sub-County.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by education officials, teachers, parents, and local community members.

Speaking during the event, Governor Barasa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality early childhood education across the county.

“This facility reflects our commitment to giving every child in Kakamega a strong start in life by providing safe, modern, and child-friendly learning environments,” said Governor Barasa.

He noted that the county government is prioritising the construction of modern ECDE facilities to ensure young learners study in safe, dignified, and conducive environments that support both learning and overall child development.

The Governor further revealed that Kakamega County has undertaken 61 ECDE infrastructure projects, the majority of which have been completed and are currently in use by learners.

The newly commissioned St Angela Model ECDE Centre features two fully equipped classrooms, an office, a modern kitchen, washrooms, a water-harvesting tank, and a well-equipped play area.

He said the facility is designed to support holistic learning, including academic, social, and physical development of children.

Governor Barasa emphasised that investment in early childhood education remains a key pillar of his administration’s agenda, aimed at ensuring every child has a solid foundation for future learning and success.
