Police in Maralal are looking for a 36-year-old man who hacked his two children to death after he quarreled with his wife.
Confirming the incident, Samburu County Commissioner (CC) John Cheruiyot said that the incident happened on Saturday night at around 10pm at Yare village after the suspect, Daniel Otieno Odero came home and started quarreling with his wife.
The CC said that after the quarrel turned violent, the wife managed to escape the house leaving behind her two children a six-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy.
Upon hearing the commotion, one of the neighbors pleaded with Odero to allow his children to spend the night at her house since the wife had escaped and he was visibly angry with a knife at hand.
“The neighbour sensed danger and rushed to call the police for intervention only to return to a gruesome crime scene. The suspect had already escaped after killing his two children.” Explained the Commissioner.
He called on residents to give information that will lead to the arrest of the suspect.
The bodies were taken to Samburu County Referral Hospital mortuary.
