Imurtot health centre elevated to level 4

Residents of Rongai-Lenkisim Ward, Kajiado County will now have access to quality healthcare services after the elevation of the Imurtot Health Centre to level four status.

The groundbreaking ceremony presided over by Kajiado County Governor, Joseph Ole Lenku, marked the start of a six-month project expected to equip the facility with state of the art theatre, radiology services and maternity unit, significantly strengthening healthcare delivery in the area.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Lenku affirmed his commitment to deliver quality, people-centred services to the people of Kajiado county, noting that the upgrade of the Imurtot Health Centre to a level 4 facility was a fulfilment of a promise made to the Rongai-Entonet Lenkisim ward residents by the County Government.

He recognised the fundamental role health plays in the smooth operation of society, underscoring his commitment to making accessible healthcare available for all.

“In partnership with KCB Foundation, this project brings healthcare to our doorsteps. Services that could only be accessed in our hospitals in Kajiado and Loitoktok towns can now be available here in Imurtot Health Centre,” said Lenku.

Governor Lenku urged the people of Rongai-Entonet Lenkisim to register for the Social Health Authority (SHA) to ease their access to affordable, quality and available health care services within the facility.

“Your registration to SHA, allows for the allocation of funds and resources directly to the hospitals and health centres within reach. Let us make sure that we are not contributing to the failures in our healthcare system,” cautioned Lenku.

The Governor commended the staff at the facility for their stellar job in efficient documentation and reports on patients’ SHA claims, which has been instrumental in ensuring that no claims are turned down, guaranteeing the well-being of patients financially.

He also confirmed that an adequate number of doctors, nurses and clinical officers have been deployed to the health care centre in facilitation of a complaint made by the residents about being understaffed.

He added that the facility has also been equipped with a fully equipped ambulance to enhance emergency response and referrals.

The Governor concluded by urging the community to take care of the resources provided for the benefit of all, reiterating that a healthy society is the foundation of a strong nation.

Residents and health workers welcomed the new facilities, stating that they will expand the reach and access of quality health care services.
