Youths in Igembe South Sub-county have been urged to embrace entrepreneurship and take advantage of opportunities presented by the rapidly developing technology sector, to earn a living.
Speaking, Sunday, during a fundraiser at St. Joseph Methodist Church in Maua, Igembe South Member of Parliament (MP), John Paul Mwirigi, called upon the youth to shun overreliance on unavailable white-collar jobs and instead adopt innovative skills aligned with today’s digital economy.
The MP noted that fields such as online business, content creation, App. development and digital marketing, create new opportunities for income generation and self-employment for young people.
“I urge our youths to embrace entrepreneurship and technology rather than waiting for formal employment. We are living in an era where digital skills are transforming the future of young individuals,” said Mwirigi.
The Legislator encouraged the youth to enrol for digital training programs that aims to equip them with practical and marketable skills, to enable them generate income and reduce reliance on others.
He said the construction of Maua ICT hub, is ongoing and once completed, it is expected to be a game changer for the youths, providing them with access to technology and entrepreneurial opportunities.
The MP further appealed to parents and guardians, to support their children’s talents, especially during this long holiday, emphasizing that the future economy will be driven by innovation and technology-based solutions.
