Political aspirants affiliated to Jubilee Party Presidential hopeful Dr. Fred Matiang’i have won all the three County Assembly seats contested for in Nyamira County in the just concluded by-elections.
Chris Osiemo of UPA party won the Nyamaiya ward MCA’s seat by garnering 4790 votes followed by followed by Thomas Nyandieka of UDA party with 1357 votes.
In Ekerenyo ward Jeremiah Ongaro Njenga of UPA party won with 3507 votes followed by Francis Amenya of UDA who got 2292 votes. In Nyansiongo ward Jackson Mogusu from PDP party led with 2759 votes followed by Kevin Maranga of UPA party who got 2686.
The by-elections experienced spots of chaos and some aspirants complained of voter intimidation but the exercise was successfully concluded by IEBC officials.
Member of the County Assembly elect for Ekerenyo ward, Jeremiah Ongaro after receiving his certificate thanked all the people of Ekerenyo ward for electing him.
“I appreciate the confidence you had in me and kept your promise of saying you will ensure I lead you this time. I promise that I will do my part , ensuring that the people of Ekerenyo ward get development services they rightly deserve,” Ongaro remarked.
Nyamaiya ward seat fell vacant after the untimely death of the MCA in a road accident while Ekerenyo ward was announced vacant after the MCA took a new role as speaker of the County assembly after former speaker Henry Okero was impeached.
Nyansingo ward was announced vacant after court ruled for a repeat of the election following an election petition filed by Jackson Mogusu.
