Jomvu Member of Parliament Badi Twalib has come out strongly in defense of Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, describing him as a trusted and steadfast leader within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
Speaking during a public forum in Jomvu, Badi dismissed criticism directed at Junet over past political contests, saying such attacks were misplaced and ignored the Minority Leader’s long-standing contribution to the party and the country.
Badi noted that the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga had immense confidence in Junet Mohamed, trusting him with key political responsibilities until the very end.
“Junet was trusted deeply by Raila Odinga, and that trust did not come by accident. It was earned through loyalty, discipline and commitment to the party’s ideals,” said Badi.
He warned critics against what he termed as unfair and politically motivated attacks on Junet, insisting that ODM leaders and supporters would not remain silent while one of their own was being targeted.
“The people of Jomvu stand firmly with Junet Mohamed. If our leader is attacked unfairly, we will speak out and defend him without fear,” he said.
Badi further emphasized the importance of unity within ODM, urging party members to rally behind their leadership as the country navigates a complex political landscape.
On national politics, Badi indicated that ODM leaders were open to working with the national executive, including President William Ruto, but stressed that such cooperation must translate into tangible benefits for the people.
Echoing similar sentiments, Jomvu politician Omar Mwinyi said residents were willing to support President Ruto’s bid for a second term, provided the government addresses pressing local concerns.
Mwinyi noted that leaders can only convincingly mobilize support for the national government if it demonstrates responsiveness to issues affecting communities at the grassroots level.
“Our people are ready to support the government, but development and service delivery must be felt on the ground,” Mwinyi said.
The remarks come amid heightened political realignments, with ODM leaders increasingly emphasizing loyalty within the party while cautiously engaging the national government on development matters.
