Kiambu Level Five Hospital is undergoing a major facelift aimed at improving service delivery and enhancing patient experience as the Kiambu County Government continues investing in modern healthcare infrastructure and medical equipment.
The hospital, which attends to approximately 1,200 patients every day, is currently undergoing construction of modern ablution facilities and extensive renovations targeting key service areas, including the endoscopy theatre, paediatric ward, patients’ waiting bay and the hospital kitchen.
The ongoing works are expected to create a more safe, comfortable, hygienic and conducive environment for both patients and healthcare workers while supporting the delivery of specialized medical services.
Governor Kimani Wamatangi said the county government remains committed to transforming public health facilities into modern centres capable of providing quality and affordable healthcare to residents.
“We are steadily modernizing Kiambu Level Five Hospital to ensure our residents receive quality healthcare in a dignified environment. The ongoing renovations will improve patient comfort, enhance infection prevention and create better working conditions for our healthcare professionals,” said Wamatangi.
The governor noted that the improvements form part of the county’s broader health transformation programme that has seen substantial investments in medical infrastructure and equipment since 2023.
During the period, the county government has equipped the hospital with advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies, including a digital X-ray machine, ultrasound equipment, digital dental X-ray systems, modern endoscopy equipment, theatre machines and laboratory equipment, significantly enhancing the hospital’s diagnostic and treatment capacity.
In addition, the hospital introduced telemedicine services to enable patients to access specialized consultations remotely, reducing referrals and improving access to healthcare, particularly for patients requiring expert medical advice.
According to the governor, the modernization programme is aimed at reducing the burden on patients who previously sought specialized services in hospitals outside the county while strengthening the hospital’s capacity to handle complex medical conditions.
Wamatangi further revealed that installation of dialysis machines and a Computed Tomography (CT) Scan machine will commence immediately after the ongoing renovations are completed, enabling the facility to offer more advanced diagnostic imaging and kidney care services.
Residents have welcomed the ongoing face lift, expressing optimism that the improvements will reduce congestion, enhance service delivery and position Kiambu Level Five Hospital as a leading referral facility within the region.
