The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM party) has endorsed President William Ruto’s proposed Vision 2060 development roadmap.
The Party’s acting Secretary General and Busia Woman Representative, Catherine Omanyo, said talks will provide a long-term development strategy to secure prosperity for future generations.
Speaking in Busia, Omanyo said the president’s vision of inclusivity would enable all Kenyans to participate in shaping the country’s future through expert-driven planning.
“The president has outlined a vision of driving Kenya’s prosperity through the inclusion of all citizens with the support of experts.
I support the initiative because it will help us begin working towards Vision 2060. We must think about the future of our children and the kind of country we want them to inherit. The vision will provide a clear roadmap for achieving our national development goals,” she said.
Omanyo also urged aspirants seeking elective positions in Busia County to join ODM, assuring them that the party would conduct free, fair, and credible nominations ahead of the 2027 General Election.
“We want leaders in Busia to be elected on the ODM ticket. Every aspirant has an equal opportunity through our party. We will conduct transparent nominations, and I am ready to face any challenger for the Woman Representative seat. Whoever wins the party ticket will receive ODM’s full support,” she said.
On broad-based political arrangement, Omanyo maintained that ODM would push for the deputy president position in the 2027 general election.
“Our position remains that ODM should produce the deputy president under the broad-based arrangement. The candidate will be thoroughly vetted to ensure they are a committed ODM member,” she said.
She also appealed for peace and unity among Busia residents, noting that harmony is essential for development and improved livelihoods.
“I urge residents to remain united because peaceful coexistence brings development and transforms lives. Let us respect our leaders, support one another, and work together for the progress of our county,” Omanyo said.
