Uasin Gishu County will host a week-long series of tourism events beginning Wednesday (today), with a culmination in the celebration of UN World Tourism Day on September 27 at the University of Eldoret, County Executive Committee Member for Trade, Industrialisation, Tourism, and Cooperatives Dr. Philip Chebunet has announced.
In a statement issued Tuesday, Dr. Chebunet said the county was prepared to welcome stakeholders, communities, industry players, students, and tourism enthusiasts.
“I warmly welcome you to World Tourism Week, beginning tomorrow, 23 September, 2026, in Uasin Gishu County,” read the statement. A series of exciting events and activities will take place throughout the week, bringing together stakeholders, communities, industry players, students, and tourism enthusiasts to celebrate the power and potential of tourism.”
Dr. Chebunet noted that UN World Tourism Day will be marked under the global theme focusing on the Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence in Tourism.
“UN World Tourism Day will be celebrated on 27 September, 2026, at the University of Eldoret, under the global theme focusing on the Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence in Tourism,” he said.
He added that Eldoret, known as the City of Champions, aims to highlight its tourism assets during the week.
“As the City of Champions, Eldoret is ready to showcase its tourism potential, hospitality, culture, innovation, and investment opportunities,” he added.
